Day 1:
We arrived at Munich International Airport.
We rented a car at the airport (internet booking at one of the rent-a-car agencies) and drove to the Schwarzwald (Black Forest), 350 kilometres from the airport.
We stopped at Lake Bodensee on the way and had a little walk around two pretty towns called Lindau and Meersbrug.
We also planned to stay in the Neuschwanstein Castle but realized that it would take too much time. Maybe next time.
Later on in the evening we came to the apartment Pension Michelehaeusle Fewo Heubiehne that we had rented on the Internet through the recommendations of people who had been there before, near the village of St. Margen. It is a very good location for trips to the Black Forest. It is a small farm with different animals, located in the woods. The owners also live there and provide several apartments of different sizes to rent. It is a quiet paradise for a family with children.
Here is their website – www.michelehaeusle.de/english/. Just send them an email in English and negotiate. They do not even ask for an advance payment, as far as I remember.
We rented a two-room apartment on the ground floor with a bedroom and a living room with a kitchen.
Day 2:
Park of the Senses – Park mit Allen Sinnen near the town of Gutach.2 km barefoot on different surfaces, and all 5 senses are involved. It is great for children! You cannot enter with a stroller there.
A cuckoo-clock house in Schonach.
The route to the Triberg waterfalls, walk around the lake and the town itself. You can go with a stroller all the way. Admission is free after 6 pm.
Day 3:
Lake Titisee. We devoted the whole day to walks by the lake. Titisee town is full of entertainment: boats, swimming, cafes, a promenade through the town, picking berries in the woods and riding a bicycle. If you have time, it is recommended to climb Feldberg mountain on the funicular. With a cable car ticket the parking is free. In general, all the tickets in Germany are free for children under 4.
Day 4:
Open-air museum in Gutach. www.vogtsbauernhof.org
A trip by car with a few stops along the beautiful Schwarzwald Panoramastrasse road from Waldkirch to Hinterzarten.
Hohenzollern Burg castle on the top of a lonely mountain is like the one from the “Puss in Boots” fairy tale.
Day 5:
Amusement Park “Europa Park”. In my opinion it is cooler then Disneyland. The park is divided into zones, each one is in a different European country style.
Evening walk in the woods near our house. Raspberry and strawberry picking.
Day 6:
Flowers and butterflies park on the Mainau island is a small paradise.
Day 7-8:
We returned the car in the center of Munich, because you don’t need it in the city.
We spent a day and a half in the center of Munich and in the city park.
We spent a night at the city hotel before flying home.
